If you didn't think Paris was the clear winner on American Idol tonight...

...then I can't trust your judgment on anything. Plus, you're reading this blog. You must have terrible taste.

UPDATE: I understand from a few conversations today that I missed early, key performances last night that outshone Paris. So my new motto is "Anyone but Ace."

This is not sarcasm. She is no Kelly C, but she can carry a tune, which makes her distinctive on the show.

Paris is definitely one of my faves. McPhee is the other.

I hate that show. It is Ted Mack's Amateur Hour with snarky comments and truly bad songs. I find the entire thing as useful and socially redeeming as I find the ancient Roman practice of throwing Christians to the beasties. Instead, we throw chuckleheads, dweebs and the talentless under the wheels of our national bus, marveling at the wet thumps and random screams.

And some of the more witless among us buy William Hung CDs.
Ick.

not saying that Paris can't sing--she was an early favorite of mine. But...just don't think she's had her A game lately. Ever since that Beyonce debacle a few weeks back, she's been off. Last night, she was better than some, like ol' Deuce Young (then again, so was Bucky). But there were better performances.

Snark: Why of course.

That doesn't mean I'm not going to root for the best chucklehead.

Whoa, whoa, whoa . . . Simon was totally right. Paris' performance was "weird." What the h*** was she wearing? She's 16, people, have we forgotten that? Those boots! That top! The hair extensions - it was all so wrong! What happened to the young, poite, upbeat Paris we fell in love with at the beginnning of the show?

Still love Chris. But, Simon was right with him, too. He totally could have a "moment" on Tuesday, and he didn't seize the opportunity. They're all so good (with the exception of Ace), so why are they all sucking so bad?

Will miss Bucky. He wasn't good, but, as my nephew would say, "Bucky . . .good guy."

They were singing Queen. Q.U.E.E.N. The apex of weird.

Also I don't think they're all that good. Then again, you've seen more singing than I have.
