Wait I'm confused. They want to be singled out because of their sexual orientation? What about equality?
Oh, this must be one of those all-of-us-are-equal-but-one-group-is always-more-special things that irritates the crap out of me.
"No, no! Don't discriminate because someone is different! Don't segregate because someone is different! But please do remember that (insert name of whatever small minority but very vocal group here) are far, far more equal than you!!!"

Exactly. I was pleased that some gay students have opted not to participate in the ceremonies because, as one put it, "Every part of me contributed to my successes..."
If we're going to start singling out graduates based on their sexual orientation, what's stopping us from doing the same for the gender, skin color, religion or political party?
